Alexander Bassen leads GHG Protocol’s new Independent Standards Board

Platform member Alexander Bassen (University of Hamburg) has been appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Greenhouse Gas ProtocoI’s Independent Standards Board (ISB).
The new body is tasked with monitoring the further development of the globally established GHG Protocol standards. The establishment of this additional body is aimed at further strengthening the transparency, efficiency and rigour of the organization’s activities and thus meeting the increased requirements in regulation, standard-setting and the private sector.
The Independent Standard Board will also report to a new Steering Committee and work closely with the GHG Protocol Secretariat, which is based at the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCDSD).
